The 1966 Corvette Coupe
The "6 Taillight Car" |
This 1966 Coupe was purchased by its' present owner in June, 1990 with little more than 21,000 ticks on the odometer. Mileage recently turned 23,000 and YES...IT IS STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL PAINT!!!
The original owner still resides at the same address just outside of Reading, PA as shown on the warranty book. It seems that he was quite a "performance enthusiast". In late 1965, while driving his 409 Impala, he was confronted by a NEW 427-450 h.p. Corvette. Events took place...and the Impala was no match for the 427 Corvette. He hightailed it to the local dealer and ordered THIS 1966 CORVETTE COUPE. When asked why he ordered no power equipment, his answer was, "If it didn't put the power to the wheels, I didn't need it". The second owner added power steering.

Hmmm...6 Tail lights???? Which option was that???
Well, remember the Impala that he had just traded??? It had 6 taillights unlike the standard full size Chevy - which only had 4. Shortly after taking delivery in 1966, a trip was made to his local body shop where the "EXTRA TAIL LIGHTS" in true "Impala Fashion" were added. At this same time, all of the Emblems were removed and the holes were filled. This was a common
occurrence "in those days". The paint blending at the emblem locations was and still remains the only paint work performed outside of St. Louis. The original emblems were re-installed many years later.
All original components, including Engine, Transmission, Differential, Carburetor, Radiator, Alternator, Water Pump, Starter, Voltage Regulator, Wiper Motor, Headlight Motors, Unused Gold Line Spare Tire, Power Antenna, even the F-41 Shock Absorbers are still fully functional and intact. Only the valve covers and oil pan have been repainted. Overspray can still be seen on the exhaust manifolds! The intake had been removed and bead blasted at one time.
Awards include: |

| 5th Star( (1999 National Convention - Bowling Green, KY) |
This car is truly a joy to own and "occasionally" drive. When closely examined, with all of the paint daubs, inspector marks, and labels, it is just like turning back the clock to 1966!
